Soil Washing Treatability Study for SWMU B-20

Preface

The purpose of this report is to document all work conducted in association with the physical treatment study activities performed for SWMU B-20 soils at Camp Stanley Storage Activity (CSSA), Boerne, Texas. The report is organized into six sections:

Section 1 is an introduction that summarizes the objectives of the study;

Section 2 provides a description of the site and a summary of previously performed investigations;

Section 3 describes the methods and protocols used to perform the benchscale treatability study;

Results and data evaluation from the study are detailed in Section 4;

Section 5 presents evaluation criteria for determining conclusions of the physical treatment technology;

Section 6 discusses the significant findings and recommendations of the study; and

References are included in Section 7.

Appendix A contains the final technical report provided by Brice Environmental Services Corporation (Brice), which was subcontracted to perform the treatability study which included a laboratory benchscale test. Brice�s treatability study and final technical report was prepared under Subcontract No. ST94004-R-042.

This document was prepared for CSSA by Parsons Engineering Science, Inc. (Parsons ES) of Austin, Texas, under the U.S. Air Force Air Mobility Command (AMC) Contract F11623-94-D0024, delivery order RL33. It complies with all appropriate regulatory requirements for closure of solid waste management units (SWMUs) as stated in 40 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), part 265 and 30 TAC 335, subchapters A, E, and S. The CSSA Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) identification number is TXD2210020739, and its Texas solid waste registration number is 69026.
