SAP Addendum Specific to Field Sampling Plan for AOC-55 Remedial Actions, January 2003

Section 1 - Introduction

This document is an addendum that modifies the Sampling and Analysis Plan (SAP) for Solid Waste Management Unit (SWMU) Closures at Camp Stanley Storage Activity (CSSA) (Environmental Encyclopedia Volume 1-4, Field Sampling and Analysis Plan tab and QAPP tab) for Area of Concern (AOC) 55 Remedial Action activities as specified in Air Force Center of Environmental Excellence (AFCEE) ENRAC Task Order (TO) 0009. The purpose of this addendum is to address changes to the existing SAP specifically related to the task order activities. The planned activities include conducting a geophysical survey to delineate the location of buried waste material, excavating exploratory test trenches to verify results of the geophysical surveys, and collection of soil samples to determine initial waste characterization of the material, performing removal actions at AOC 55, and confirmation sampling of the landfill area.

Geophysical surveys will be conducted to identify the presence of anomalies and determine the lateral extents of AOC-55. In addition, the AOC-55 removal actions will include the installation of a low water crossing near AOC-55. The samples to be collected, the sampling procedures, and the intended purpose are summarized in Table 1.1.
