AOC-48 Delisting Report

Section 2 - Delisting Activities

Although contaminants were not detected above closure standards in the three RFI surface soil samples or during the soil gas survey, geophysical results indicated an anomaly potentially related to waste management activities. Because all waste and waste residue must be removed to meet RRS1 closure, test excavations were conducted along this anomaly to determine if any waste was present at the site.

Excavation of a test pit to search for waste along the geophysical anomaly was conducted on February 27, 2004. During this period, a pit with a 4-foot radius and 3-foot depth was excavated. The soil was stockpiled, and when nothing was found, the excavated soil was replaced back into the pit. Photographs from the test pit excavation are provided below. Additional test pits excavated on April 27, 2004 also indicated no evidence of waste along the geophysical anomaly. These excavations were approximately 6 feet deep, and no evidence of prior excavation activities or waste residue was identified in this area.

Because no waste was found during the excavation of the test pits, no confirmation closure sampling was necessary.
