AOC-48 Delisting Report

Section 3 - Conclusions and Recommendations

Geophysical survey results from the AOC-48 RFI investigation showed the possible presence of a waste trench. The RFI recommended that test pits be dug at the geophysical anomaly to explore for potential waste. If any waste was present, excavation and disposal of the waste and waste residue were to be performed so that the site could be closed under RRS1 criteria. In 2004, several test pits were excavated along this anomaly and no evidence of waste or waste residue was encountered. Therefore, no removal of waste or closure sampling was necessary. All RFI results for soil samples collected at AOC‑48 met RRS1 criteria. Since no waste management activities were conducted at AOC‑48, it is recommended that the site be officially delisted as an AOC.

In addition, since AOC‑48 and the surrounding area did not indicate any evidence of waste management activity, the subsurface analytical results should be included in the data set for CSSA background calculations.
