1993

September

Field survey indicated an area where miscellaneous solid waste was disposed of. This area has been covered and semi-compacted, but there are several areas where the cover has eroded, revealing the trash.

March

Geophysical survey performed on March 12. Five anomalies were found. Three are potentially associated with waste management activities, and two are associated with construction debris piles on bedrock.

Site boundary surveyed on March 17.

April

Additional geophysical survey performed to verify data.

August

Soil borings (SB1‑SB4) drilled and samples collected on August 27 and 28. Analytical results are currently in question due to ITS Laboratory practices. However, preliminary evaluation of the results indicates that copper, lead, mercury, and zinc concentrations exceed background levels in surface soil, and barium, cadmium, chromium, copper, lead, nickel, and zinc concentrations exceed background in limestone. Low levels of VOCs and SVOCs were also detected in several samples.

September - November

Approximately 7,480 cubic yards (CY) of debris and soil were excavated from the site; some of which contained non-friable transite asbestos and some that contained pieces of asphalt. Confirmation samples collected from the excavation bottom and sidewalls showed contamination exceeding Tier 1 PCLs was removed from the site.
