SAP Addendum Specific to Field Sampling Plan for AOC-65 Treatability Study Under AETC TO 0058
Section 1 - Introduction
This document is an addendum that modifies the Sampling and Analysis Plan (SAP) for Solid Waste Management Unit (SWMU) Closures at Camp Stanley Storage Activity (CSSA) (Environmental Encyclopedia Volume 1-4, Field Sampling and Analysis Plan tab and QAPP tab) for Area of Concern (AOC)-65 Treatability Study activities as specified in Air Education and Training Command (AETC) Task Order (TO) 0058. The purpose of this addendum is to address changes to the existing SAP specifically related to the task order activities. The activities to be conducted include performance of geophysical surveys, conducting removal actions at Building 90/AOC-65, conducting a groundwater recharge study, and performing a Soil Vapor Extraction (SVE) treatability study at AOC-65.
Geophysical surveys will be conducted to identify the presence and location of
subsurface fractures, faults, and karst features that may be impacting
groundwater flow and contaminant migration.
The Building 90 removal actions will include the installation of a
subslab ventilation system to remove vapors that have accumulated beneath the
building floor, and excavation of impacted soils west of the building along a
drain line and drainage ditch. The
groundwater recharge study will involve the installation of piezometers west of
Building 90 and the monitoring of rainfall and the infiltration of precipitation
in the unsaturated zone. The AOC-65
SVE treatability study will include the installation and testing of a SVE system
inside and outside of Building 90 to address volatile organic compounds (VOCs)
in the unsaturated material to a depth of 150 feet. The samples to be collected, the sampling procedures, and the
intended purpose are summarized in Table
1.1.
