Technical Memorandum on Surface Geophysical Surveys, High Priority SWMUs

Section 7 - SWMU B-22

7.1 - Site History and Description

SWMU B-22 is located in the north pasture approximately 3,000 feet northwest of monitoring well 16 (Figure 1.1). The site is an open, grassy area bounded by drainage channels to the north and east, and by trees to the west (Figure 7.1). According to historical records, B-22 was used to burn artillery shells. The site is relatively large, measuring about 600 by 600 feet.

7.2 - Geophysical Survey Results

SWMU B-22 was staked at 100-foot intervals but the EM survey was conducted at 50-foot intervals along east-west transects. The EM conductivity and in-phase contour maps are shown on Figure 7.2 and Figure 7.3. No anomalies were detected at B-22 during the EM survey and, thus, there is no indication of any subsurface disturbance. The higher conductivity values (up to 58 mS/m) on the western portion of the site reflects thicker soil cover in that area.
