Technical Memorandum on Surface Geophysical Surveys, High Priority SWMUs

Section 2 - SWMU B-7

2.1 - Site History and Description

SWMU B-7 is located in the north pasture directly north of well 16 and south of SWMU B-24 (Figure 1.1). Limestone bedrock appears to be at or near ground surface at this site, and there is no evidence of subsurface disturbance. B-7 was included in this investigation due to its relative position upgradient of CSSA monitoring well 16. The initial field survey revealed weapon craters and packing material near the gravel road that runs adjacent to the site (Figure 2.1). Furthermore, numerous types of small caliber ammunition were found scattered throughout the area.

2.2 - Geophysical Survey Results

An EM survey was performed at B-7 along north-south and east-west transects. The transects were spaced at 25-foot intervals to obtain maximum coverage of this relatively small site. The EM conductivity contour maps are shown on Figure 2.2 and Figure 2.3. Limestone bedrock crops out on the eastern edge of the site where slightly lower conductivity values were observed.

No EM anomalies were detected at B-7 during this survey, and therefore there is no indication of subsurface disturbance in the area.
