RL74 Work Plan Addendum
Solid Waste Management Unit B-8

Previous Investigations (Updated): Potential UXO items at the site were investigated, identified and removed in August 1997. On 25 August 1997, the site was graded and UXB completed a geophysical survey of the previously discovered anomaly. On 26 August 1997 the soils around the anomaly were excavated, and two large concrete slabs with rebar were discovered and removed. After removal of the concrete debris, the site was swept with a magnetometer to determine if any buried metal remained. No additional anomalies were observed.

Data Needs: Soil placed back into the excavation after the concrete debris removal must be characterized for disposal and/or decontamination.

Closure Activities: Soil placed back into the excavation after the concrete debris removal will be characterized for disposal and/or decontamination in the future. This work will be completed, but is not scheduled under the RL74 Work Order:

Previous analytical screening results from the soils in the excavation indicate that the soils do not meet RRS1 or RRS2 criteria. These soils will be sampled and analyzed for disposal and/or decontamination procedures.

Soil in the excavation will be disposed of in a non-hazardous landfill, or evaluated to see if they are conducive to the decontamination procedures being researched as treatability options for soils from SWMUs B-20 and B-21.
