SWMU B-23A Work Plan
RL17 Project, February 1996

Soils: Tarrant Association, gently undulating

Known: A trench was observed in a 1994 aerial photo for unit B-23A (Parsons ES, 1995c). Glass ampoules filled with a liquid material of different colors were discovered at B-23A.

Previous Investigations: No anomalies were detected in B-23A (Parsons ES, 1995c) (Figure B23A-1). A soil gas survey has not been conducted at the SWMU.

Data Needs: Soil gas survey.

Closure Activities: The following activities constitute an initial investigation of solid waste management unit B-23A.

SWMU B-23A Field Effort 2

  1. Review historical records as described in Section 2.4.1 of the Work Plan Overview.

  2. Using the grid established for the geophysical survey conducted under previous field efforts, install a soil gas probe at each gridpoint. If the grids are no longer in place, estimate the grid using Figure B23A-1. Take a sample at each location as described in Section 2.4.1 of the Work Plan Overview and analyze for TCE, PCE, cis- and trans-1,2-DCE and the BTEX compounds (as outlined in the FSP).
