October

Reviewed available records at CSSA during preliminary evaluation for groundwater contamination.

Parsons ES

Order 67

1995

February

Performed EM geophysical survey on February 14. Found five geophysical anomalies.

Parsons ES

March

Performed GPR survey on March 1 and 2. Provided vague indication of ground disturbance where EM clearly identified those disturbances.

Parsons ES

Drilled five soil borings (SB1-5) on March 2 through 7 and collected soil/rock samples. No analytes exceeded RRS2 standards. The following analytes exceeded RRS1 standards: phthalates (surface soil); toluene, chromium, and copper (subsurface soil). Results are summarized in Table B2-1.

Parsons ES,
Chemron,
JEDI

Collected groundwater samples from SB3 and SB5 on March 6 and 7. Found cadmium and lead above MCLs in SB3. Results are summarized in Table B2-2.

Parsons ES
Chemron

June

Drilled one soil boring (SB5R) on June 12; not enough groundwater in boring to collect sample.

Parsons ES
JEDI

Performed soil gas survey on June 26 and 27. Found PCE at concentrations less than 1 ug/L in samples.

Parsons ES

1997

September

Excavated two trenches to look for UXO. No UXO identified.

January

Collected 21 soil samples and analyzedfor metals (Cr, Cd, Ni, and Pb), toluene, and the explosives suite.

Parsons

TO19

May - June

Excavated approximately 3000 cu. yds. of soil from the surface and trenches. Removed UXO items of concern.

Collected 7 sidewall samples and analyzed for lead. Collected 3 bottom samples and analyzed for lead, toluene, and Di-n-Butyl Phtalate.

Excavated soils hauled out to Covel Gardens and backfilling of trenches.

Parsons

TO19

November

Excavated areas that samples came back above background.

Parsons

TO19

December

Collected 8 additional site characterization samples

Parsons

TO19

2005

February

Collected 6 additional site characterization samples

Parsons

TO19

2008

March

Excavated areas where samples exceeded for lead. Collected 5 additional site characterization samples

June

Performed XRF analysis at the site to determine the extent of metals in surface soils. Analysis performed on several soil samples to determine the correlation between XRF and laboratory results showed good correlation for lead and zinc.

Parsons

DO50

December

Excavated one location, collected 35 surface soil samples to test for metals.
